About
What is Falling Upwards?
Falling Upwards is a space I created to document my journey through photography while sharing my perspectives on life. It’s a place where I explore the ideas that inspire me—whether it’s people, society, or even my take on the latest fashion trends.
Here, style and life intersect. It’s where the internal meets the external, because our thoughts and feelings shape so much more than we realize. They influence how we walk, how we talk, and even how we dress.

Hi, I'm Tobi
mY JOURNEY
an attempt to choose my own destiny
When I entered my early twenties, I began to self reflect on where I was and the choices that had shaped my life so far. I came to the realisation that most of my decisions lacked intentionality. All this time, I had been following what I believed was expected of me instead of doing what it was that I wanted. Looking back, it felt like the pivotal moments that brought me here weren’t entirely my own. I didn’t really know who I was.
On the surface, everything seemed great—I had a promising career, fortunate to keep relatively fit, and nurtured strong relationships with friends and family. But deep down, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. I couldn’t say with certainty that I’d been in control of my own life, that I was satisfied with what I had done so far. My accomplishments didn’t feel like they mattered, like they weren’t my own.
That sense of drifting—of moving through life without direction, yet somehow landing in a positive place—is what I call Falling Upwards. It’s about navigating life’s uncertainties, sometimes aimlessly, but still finding growth along the way.
Once I realised this was something that a lot of people my age can relate to, I knew that I had to share this with you.
MISSION
an attempt to chANGE HOW WE view, THINK AND DRESS
That changed when I went to university which wasn’t an easy time for me. I was thrust into a world world cliques and judgement. Feeling constantly isolated, one of my moments of solace was found in photography. I just started taking pictures on my iPhone 6S and took off from there.
I found that people my age were using their style as a form of self-expression. It was inspiring, but it also dawned on me, I didn’t have that same outlet. I began experimenting with my clothing choices and over time, fashion and photography became the tools I used to explore and express my identity.
Through this process, I’ve also come to understand how differently people think. I’ve always believed that love and connection are the most important things in life. But my time at university and in the corporate world showed me how strongly people cling to individualism. It made me even more committed to my golden rule: “Treat others as you want to be treated.”
With Falling Upwards, I hope to not only share my journey but also encourage a more empathetic way of engaging with the world—through style, creativity, and kindness.
